Diogo Hayashi é cineasta, diretor de arte e quadrinista, formado em Cinema e Roteiro. Seu trabalho transita entre o audiovisual e as artes gráficas, tendo o desenho como principal ferramenta de criação.

Em 2018, recebeu o Candango de Melhor Direção de Arte no 51º Festival de Brasília pelo longa Temporada. Seus filmes e colaborações foram exibidos em festivais como Cannes, Berlinale, Locarno, Toronto (TIFF), New York IFF, London FF, Tiradentes, Kinoforum, Mix Brasil e Brasília, além de integrarem exposições em instituições como Gasworks (Londres) e Pérez Art Museum (Miami). É alumni do Berlinale Talents 2017 e sócio da produtora Sancho Filmes, em São Paulo.

Como diretor e roteirista, realizou curtas, telefilmes, séries documentais, videoclipes e animações, apresentados em festivais como Cartagena, Curta Cinema, Fantaspoa, Africa International Film Festival, Kinoforum, Mix Brasil e Tiradentes. Seu trabalho mais recente como diretor de arte, o longa Sleep With Your Eyes Open (dir. Nele Wohlatz, prod. Emilie Lesclaux), recebeu o Prêmio FIPRESCI na mostra Berlinale Encounters 2024. Entre seus próximos lançamentos estão Caem as Rosas Brancas (dir. Albertina Carri), Luísa (dir. Leonor Noivo) e Se Eu Fosse Vivo Vivia… (dir. André Novais Oliveira). O longa A Vítima Invisível (dir. Juliana Antunes), produzido pela Netflix, estreou em setembro de 2024.

No campo das artes gráficas, lançou as graphic novels Estamos Quase em Casa (Ugra Press, 2023) e Serpente, ambas contempladas pelos editais ProAC. Serpente está em fase de preparação para sua adaptação cinematográfica, que marca sua estreia em longas como diretor, e foi premiado no Berlinale Talents Project Market 2025.

Diogo vive em São Paulo e desenvolve obras que exploram sua ascendência japonesa e suas reverberações na experiência brasileira contemporânea.

Diogo Hayashi is a filmmaker, production designer, and graphic novelist, with a background in Film and Screenwriting. His work moves fluidly between cinema and visual arts, with drawing as his primary creative tool.
